How to Take Down Corporate Mining Polluters

November 2, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

“Vidalina Morales: Salvadorean Earth Defender: How to take down corporate mining polluters: From Cabañas to the National Congress.”

Vidalina Morales Eco-Feminist, campesina leader of the The National Roundtable Against Metallic Mining El Salvador will be sharing her experience fighting mining corporations from her hometown Cabañas to the National Assembly. In March 2017, the Roundtable won an historic legislative victory by securing a prohibition against all metals mining in perpetuity. For a land-poor country with vulnerable water sources and a significant rural population that would be displaced by mining, this was an unexpected and unprecedented accomplishment.
