The Colorado College Refugee Alliance, Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains, and Films for Social Justice are proud to present a film festival focused on the ongoing global refugee crisis. Open to the community, we are screening several award-winning short films, presenting a panel of refugees from our own community to share their stories, and ending with a screening of the Oscar-nominated feature length film Fuocoammare (Fire at Sea).
We are now witnessing the highest levels of human displacement on record. An unprecedented 65.6 million people around the world have been forced from home. Among them are nearly 22.5 million refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18. Now is the time to listen, learn, and act. From 1:00-2:30, a series of documentary shorts will be screened. Following this, refugee speakers will share their stories and answer questions. Baklava and tea will be served. The fest will end with the feature film starting at around 4pm.
We will also have information from community partners on how you yourself can get directly involved in helping humans fleeing oppression, now resettling in our own community. Come and learn. Free and open to all.
