SUMMARY:Beyond Burnout: Mindful Compassion for Those Who Carry a Lot
DESCRIPTION:Beyond Burnout: Mindful Compassion for Those Who Carry a Lot\nWhen: Feb 17\, 5:30pm-7pm \nWhere: Virtual \nREGISTER HERE! \nWith so many demands on our attention and energy\, many of us experience a narrowing of capacity—where overwhelm sets in and it becomes harder to remain fully engaged. In this 90-minute workshop\, we’ll explore how to shift from strain toward embodied compassion by drawing on both contemporary science and timeless contemplative wisdom. \nTogether\, we’ll explore how compassion-based skills support responding—rather than reacting—to stress and overload\, and how we can intentionally awaken our innate capacity for aligned care when the weight of caring begins to feel like too much. We’ll examine key insights from research on burnout and resilience\, and ground them in experiential practices that help translate understanding into lived experience. \nBy the end of our time together\, you’ll leave with practical tools and an accessible practice to help transform overwhelm into compassionate presence—so you can care without collapse and remain open\, connected\, and effective. \nOffered as part of Naropa University’s Café Contemplative series\, this session invites you into shared inquiry\, reflection\, and practical skill-building—whether you’re new to contemplative practice or deeply engaged in related work. \nThis free workshop also serves as an orientation to our upcoming Mindful Compassion Training\, beginning March 10. Those who are interested will have an opportunity to learn more about the full training experience.

SUMMARY:Love for the Birds & the Bees
DESCRIPTION:Love for the Birds & the Bees\nWhen: Feb 14\, 1pm-4pm \nWhere: Patagonia Boulder \nLEARN MORE HERE! \nBring your kiddos and grab your friends to give some love to the Birds & Bees this Valentine’s Day at the Patagonia Boulder store! PPAN will be on site serving treats\, drinks\, and arts & crafts materials for you to create pollinator-themed Valentines.  \nGift your handmade cards to someone special\, or PPAN will send them to Colorado Representatives on your behalf to ask for them to show pollinators some love during this legislative session through two exciting bills that they are championing: \nThe first\, SB26-065\, or The SEED Act\, which would significantly reduce pesticide poisoning in our state. Currently\, almost every corn seed planted in Colorado (as well as many other grains) is pre-coated with a powerful “neonic” systemic insecticide dust. This bill aims to help Colorado adopt the same system that’s been working well in Canada—and just passed in NY and VT—where neonics are only applied to our food when necessary\, rather than preemptively. This would protect farmers\, pollinators\, birds\, waterways\, and soil health\, while not compromising on crop yields. More info at: https://seedweneedcolorado.org/.  \nThe second bill\, HB26-1132\, the Native Plants Bill\, will increase the amount of native-plant landscaping done by state agencies as well as the availability of native plants and native seeds statewide for other restoration and habitat projects. Native pollinators and birds need native plants to survive\, so this bill prioritizes their use in landscaping decisions.

SUMMARY:Trash the Runway
DESCRIPTION:Trash the Runway\n\n\n\n\nWhen: Feb 7\, 7pm\nWhere: Macky Auditorium Concert Hall\nTICKETS HERE! \n\n\nTrash The Runway®\, is a nonprofit organization that hosts a design competition using fashion\, creativity\, and sustainability as a catalyst to unlock resilience\, confidence\, and new ways of critical thinking in young people. Middle and high school students are challenged to source\, design\, and create a high-fashion garment made entirely out of found\, non-recyclable or non-compostable materials entirely on their own. Over the years\, participants have used everything from discarded dog food bags\, climbing rope\, bicycle inner tubes\, and trampoline material\, to bubble wrap\, tea bags\, computer keyboards\, wallpaper samples\, carpet backing\, race bibs\, and more.\n\n\nParticipants have two months to complete their design\, creating garments that range from elegant evening gowns to whimsical leisure attire and funky streetwear. The final garments are showcased at a runway fashion show and competition that rivals the beauty and creativity of the couture seen on the catwalks during New York or Paris Fashion Week.

While the past year may have felt the heaviness of the world and chose to look inward and perhaps even go underground\, now is the time to alight our connections with all sentient beings.  The work of liberation requires going beyond our boundaries of comfort and needs to include all beings. During this two-hour webinar session\, we will engage in lecture\, practice\, and experiential exercise that support widening our circles for collective liberation. Participants should be prepared to work with challenging material\, encounter difficult and joyful emotions\, engage in experiential practices including meditation and dialogue\, and to be in respectful\, compassionate community.

SUMMARY:Symposium on Spirituality and the Environment 2026
DESCRIPTION:Symposium on Spirituality and the Environment 2026:Climate Grief\, Spiritual Resilience\, and Hope\nWhen: Feb 1\, 1:30-3:30pm\nWhere: Congregation Har Hashem\nREGISTER HERE!\n\n\nNo longer can we think of climate change as something that’s off in the future — scientists’ prediction of something that is coming. We are living in a climate-changed world. Where shall we find the wisdom we need for the living of our days? How shall we think about hope now? And what practices might we embrace to nurture the spiritual resilience we need for this season that is so fraught with challenges and so filled with opportunity? \nDuring this year’s Symposium on Spirituality and the Environment\, Rev. Dr. Allen Ewing-Merrill\, Executive Director of The BTS Center\, will invite us to explore the psycho-social-spiritual dimensions of the climate crisis\, the array of climate emotions — climate anxiety\, ecological grief\, and moral injury — as well as the invitation to practices of gratitude\, wonder\, and hope. We’ll consider how Creation invites us into relationships as healer\, teacher\, and friend. \nWe hope you join us as we navigate this turbulent & uncertain time in all our lives. \nWe’ll be gathering together in person. This program will also be livestreamed on our YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:Climate Grief\, Spiritual Resilience\, and Hope
DESCRIPTION:Climate Grief\, Spiritual Resilience\, and Hope\nWhen: Feb 1\, 1:30pm-3:30pm \nWhere: Congregation Har HaShem \nREGISTER HERE! \nThe Symposium will focus on bringing people together to explore perspectives on environmentalism from faith and spiritual traditions. We bring forward teachers\, academics\, faith-based activists in dialogue and shared learning. Our hope: greater understanding leading to greater engagement in acts of environmental protection and justice. \nThis year\, we welcome Rev. Dr. Allen Ewing-Merrill\, Executive Director of the BTS Center. \n“Inspired by the vision of human hearts renewed\, justice established\, and creation restored\, we are paying particular attention to deep and important questions about global climate crisis and the ways in which that must inform and transform spiritual practice and faith leadership — and of course\, how ecological devastation also intersects with other issues of social justice\, spirituality\, and the practice of faith.” – Rev. Dr. Allen Ewing-Merrill
