SUMMARY:Falling In Love With The Future
DESCRIPTION:Falling In Love With The Future\nWhen: Dec 27\, 9:30am-4pm \nWhere: Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder \nREGISTER HERE! \nWe’re building a time machine! \nCome join us on as we test it out for the first time and travel into the future. Not just any future though. We’re taking a trip to the best-case-scenario future that’s not too far away: the year 2032. \nIn this timeline\, humanity came together in 2026\, coalescing to rapidly address our interconnected crises of climate change\, social inequity\, and the complex web of other environmental and social problems. We’re going to see what this world looks like just six years from now\, as large-scale societal shifts are under way. \nWhat does it feel like\, taste like\, sound like in the best-case-scenario future? What spurred this shift\, and how has daily life changed for humanity? \nThis is our first time running our new workshop\, “Falling In Love With The Future.” Part theater game\, part art project\, part grief\, and part radical hope\, this day is for anybody who feels hopeless\, helpless\, overwhelmed\, or burned-out when facing the future. \nOur failure to act as a society is first and foremost a failure of the imagination. Our society\, especially our young people\, need more imaginative spaces where we don’t just beat our heads against present inaction\, but collectively create the future of our dreams. Right now\, the best that most young people can offer is a future where we’ve done a few engine swaps on gas cars. It’s time for something more hopeful. \nYou can expect the workshop to be active\, fun\, and engaging. The goal in using our time machine is to offer people a space that exists outside the ordinary\, where we can dream together. The neural pathways used for imagining the future are the same ones used for visiting our memories\, and our time machine is helping us to build our very real capacity to bring about a more beautiful future.

SUMMARY:SAVE NCAR!
DESCRIPTION:SAVE NCAR!\nWhen: Dec 20\, 11am-1pm \nWhere: NOAA\, Boulder \nYesterday\, the Trump regime stated that they plan to dismantle and shutter the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder\, CO. Russell Vought\, the director of the Office of Management and Budget announced on X yesterday that they “will be breaking up NCAR”.  They claim it is a source of “climate alarmism”. \nWe know otherwise.  The UN\, leaders around the world\, and research scientists all say that the devastating effects of climate change are real.  Just look at the devastating storms\, flooding\, wildfires\, and droughts affecting our county\, country\, and world!  The valuable work that NCAR and other federal science agencies do saves lives and helps people avert weather-related dangers. \nJoin us on Saturday\, December 20\, from 11:00am to 1:00pm in a visibility event.  Meet in front of NOAA on South Broadway and Rayleigh. Although we’re focusing on NCAR\, this is a highly visible place to show that we demand that NCAR be saved!  Bring signs with a “SAVE NCAR” pro-science theme.  Please take an RTD bus if you can.
