More details to come.\n\nKarl R. Rábago operates an energy consultancy as Rábago Energy LLC\, based in Denver\, Colorado. He has 30-plus years of experience in energy and is recognized as an innovator and expert in utility regulatory issues relating to clean and distributed energy services and technologies. Karl serves as Chair of the Board of the Center for Resource Solutions\, an organization that manages the Green-e Certification program for green power products\, and on the Boards of Solar United Neighbors and Texas Solar Energy Society. He has been a Texas public utility commissioner; a Deputy Assistant Secretary at the US Department of Energy; Vice President at Austin Energy; among other positions. Karl is a graduate of Texas A&M and has a law degree from the University of Texas\, as well as Master of Laws degrees in environmental and military law. SUMMARY:The History and Current Status of Distributed Renewables
DESCRIPTION:The History and Current Status of Distributed Renewables\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen: Nov 11\, 6pm-8pm\nWhere: Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder\nREGISTER HERE!\n\nIn November\, our Boulder County chapter welcomes Dr. Peter Lilienthal for a look at the history of distributed power. \nBased on his 40+ year career looking at the economics of distributed power\, Dr. Lilienthal will first discuss the evolution of distributed power’s technologies and markets. After discussing the current state of distributed power for energy access in developing countries and high penetration renewable power systems in remote areas and islands\, the bulk of the talk will be on the potential for distributed power to harden the US grid by improving resilience and reducing the need for transmission expansion. In addition to the dramatic drop in the price of solar photovoltaics\, new storage technologies promise to completely change the structure of the electric power industry. \nJoin us in person at our new venue\, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder (UUCB). Arrive early for networking at refreshments. Plan to stay after the main presentation for Q&A.
