Boulder, Colorado prides itself on being beautiful, welcoming, and inclusive. However, in 2019, racially charged and dangerous policing involving a Black university student made national news. The documentary film, This Is Who We Are, explores the gap between Boulder's self-image and the more complex lived experiences --both historical and contemporary-- of its Black citizens.

Project Visibility General Training

The Boulder County Area Agency on Aging is sponsoring a Project Visibility general training complete with a screening of the new Project Visibility documentary! This updated version of the documentary features local Rainbow Elders (LGBTQ+/50+) who are living and experiencing life in the state of Colorado. They share their stories, so we can make visible the differences that exist within the LGBTQ+ community.

Help for the Journey: Caregiver Forum

The Boulder County Area Agency on Aging and AARP Colorado are offering Help for the Journey, six hours of education providing hope, information, and resources for caregivers of older adults. Standing for Humanity in Gaza and Israel

The haunting 20-minute play opens with two prologues set on the morning of October 7th. It then sharply transforms into a ‘how to’ course in maintaining humanity in the aftermath of barbarism; poignantly capturing the moment when everything changed for the people of Israel, Palestine/Gaza, and way beyond. Proceeds go to Medical Aid for Palestine and Bring Them Home Now!

Fireside Session: Bridging Service Gaps Utilizing Federal Funds to Best Meet the Needs of Tribal Victims-Survivors of Gender-based Violence

The most sustainable Tribal responses to domestic violence, sexual violence, sex trafficking, and related disparities are those rooted in Indigenous cultures and values. The challenge for those receiving federal funds is balancing the development of their responses with administering varying requirements of federal funds. This Fireside session will share how Tribes and Tribal organizations can develop their sustainable responses, including responding to challenges to best meet the needs of survivors and Tribal communities by pooling together different federal funds and maximizing impact. We hope to inspire listeners.
