Haystack Farm Field Day

October 18 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Haystack Farm Field Day

When: Oct 18, 11am-2pm
Where: Haystack Farms

Calling Colorado Farmers —

Join Mad Agriculture’s Director of Stewardship, Clark Harshbarger, as he takes us through a geologic history of the Left Hand Valley and Haystack Mountain. To highlight the day’s events, we will spend time identifying and describing inherent and dynamic soil properties, such as the soil’s horizons, aggregates, organic matter content and porosity in a soil pit at Haystack Farm.

Our observations will be set in the context of Haystack’s transition to organic agriculture, best uses for what enterprises the land can offer the farm, and what the farmer can do to give back to the land. We hope to provide you with an emphasis on organic land management that you can take back to your farm.

RSVP to confirm your spot. Come hungry, lunch will be provided. This is an outdoor event so prepare accordingly — sun hat, water, closed toe shoes. This offering is funded through the USDA’s Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP).
