Should nuclear power be considered “clean”? Join us for a rare opportunity to hear a high-level overview from experts with the Alliance for Nuclear accountability and Nuclear Free Colorado. This series of presentations welcomes organizers, advocates, and members of the community to learn valuable information to strengthen their awareness and activism. Presentations will include a range of the following subjects followed by Q&A:

  • Implications of recent executive orders on energy, public safety, community consent, and stakeholder involvement.
  • The current status of the world’s first (and still only) operating deep geologic disposal site – the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in New Mexico
  • Resistance to highly radioactive waste consolidated interim storage facilities targeting New Mexico and Texas. The status of the fight against Holtec’s unprecedented scheme to restart the closed Palisades reactor in Michigan, as well as construct and operate two SMR-300s (“Small Modular Reactors” of 300 Megawatts-electric each) calling it a model for national and global build out.
  • The work being done in Pueblo and other areas of Colorado to keep our communities and our state nuclear-free. This will include how we got here, the current situation, and our plans for the coming year.
