Arapaho Youth Cultural Exchange

June 28 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Arapaho Youth Cultural Exchange

When: June 28, 5:30-7pm
Where: Museum of Boulder
Join us for a rare opportunity for Boulder youth to meet Southern Arapaho youth who would like to share their culture. This youth-to-youth cultural education may explore Arapaho hand games, social dancing, storytelling, and Native American sign language.
Adults and families are welcome, but this event is intended for children and youth. The visiting Arapaho youth are eighth grade through twelfth grade.
Fred Mosqueda, Arapaho Language and Culture Program Coordinator for the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma, expressed these hopes for this event. “I am hoping people can see our children and our elders that will be with us. Some of them have never been to Colorado and have only heard stories. I’m hoping that people will be able to talk to them and to see how we are now and how they feel about the tribe now and where we live now. I want them to also see and enjoy being with them because we will be doing different demonstrations. We will be playing hand games. I hope that they will see the friendliness of the Arapaho is still there.”
