Authentically Queer Movement: Free LGBTQ+ Embodiment Workshop
For all those seeking an affirming space to explore embodiment and self-expression of their queerness!
Listening to the wisdom of the body can be a challenge when we are immersed in negative messages about who we are. Our authenticity can be blocked for the sake of safety. But we deserve spaces where we can let our guard down and play in authentic self-expression.
What does it mean to be authentically queer?
What parts of you long to be seen and expressed?
What would you be like if you had full permission to explore your embodied experience, within community but without judgment?
These are not questions to find a final answer to, but to hold with curiosity.
The way we show up in our bodies and movement is always impacted by the environment. When we don’t feel safe, seen, or included, our self-expression shifts and may be constricted.
This workshop will be a space to enjoy supportive queer community, and play with any kind of creative movement that feels good and authentic for YOUR body. Let yourself be surprised by what comes out!
Somatic (body-centered) practices invite us to reconnect deeply with our embodied self, release emotions stored in our bodies, and explore the stories that have shaped us. Meditative and creative movement supports us to open to a more receptive state where we can welcome in our innate body wisdom, and express feelings and experiences that have been held trapped inside. When we sense and move in this intentional way, we become more connected to our true selves and create more space for us to show up authentically in the world.
This workshop will include:
– guided practices to increase body awareness in a safe and grounded way
– prompts to help you get in touch with your inner stories
– open movement time with both music and silence
– opportunity to be witnessed by community
– time for group sharing and integration
This event is FREE and open to LGBTQIA+ identified adults ages 18+.
