Community VPPs: An Option to Keep Boulder’s Electrons and Dollars Local
When: February 4, 6pm
Where: Virtual
How can Boulder align local grid energy and emissions objectives and goals when Xcel’s current plans for energy generation are going to leave gaps?
Learn about an emerging paradigm where prosumers (individuals who both consume and produce energy) provide local distributed energy resources (DERs) where they are needed. When aggregated and coordinated by a community-based Sustainable Energy Utility (SEU), the resulting virtual power plants (VPPs e.g. networks of microgrids), can play a significant role in filling the gaps while empowering the community to co-invest in its grid and potentially provide a powerful economic and health and well-being multiplier for the community.
