These free workshops are welcome to anyone interested in learning how to successfully start and manage a backyard compost pile in Colorado.

Backyard composting is an effective way to reduce household carbon footprints and provide quality compost for use in gardens. Learn how to start and maintain a highly efficient backyard compost system by knowing what to feed your compost pile, appropriate bins and methods for our geographical region, tips and troubleshooting, and more.

These workshops are hosted by the Boulder County Resource Conservation Division and taught by Melanie Nehls Burow, a Master Composter in Colorado.

FINISHED COMPOST CAN:

• Reduce the need for chemical fertilizers and pesticides

• Suppress plant diseases and pests

• Promote higher crop yield

• Improve soil structure & water retention

• Reduce erosion

There will be a short presentation from City of Longmont representatives at the beginning to go over the Longmont Composting requirements starting in 2025.
