Lilies of Gaza: Women Artists in Times of War – Art Exhibit Opening Reception
When: October 23, 6pm-8pm
Where: Pine Street Church Art Gallery
Pine Street Church is honored to host Lilies of Gaza, an exhibit created through Dar al-Kalima University (DAK) in Bethlehem in the West Bank, Palestine, that showcases the resilience and artistry of 22 women from Gaza. DAK is the first and only institution of higher education in Palestine focused on the performing arts, visual arts, and cultural heritage.
Through painting, photography, and other creative forms, these artists bear witness to grief, outrage, hope, and love amid the devastation of war—reminding the world of Gaza’s enduring humanity.
On opening night, Tracie Ortman, Executive Director of Bright Stars of Bethlehem, the U.S. fundraising arm for Dar al-Kalima, will share stories of hope from Gaza and the West Bank.
Bright Stars uplifts the next generation of Palestinian leaders, highlighting the vital role of arts and culture in building careers, nurturing resilience, and healing from trauma.
Pastor Andrew Daugherty, senior pastor of Pine Street, and Pastor Anne Scalfaro of Calvary Baptist Church of Denver, both serve on the Faith Leaders Advisory Council of Bright Stars of Bethlehem (BSB). BSB’s vision is for all people of Palestine to have life in abundance. Pine Street is delighted to collaborate with Calvary to host this event.
