Plaster Workshop
When: Sept 21, 8:30am-4pm
Where: Elk Run Farm
September 21-22, Elk Run Farm will be hosting a two-day Intro to Clay Plaster workshop with facilitator Kallie Hyer.
This will take place from 8:30am-4:00pm on both days. You can register for one day of plastering (Saturday OR Sunday) or you can register for both days! You will see these ticket options upon registering. Farm-fresh lunch is included on both days!
We’ll be plastering our beloved sheep barn, an essential landmark here at the farm, for the creatures who nourish us in so many ways.
Plastering is a radical act of community care for structures that hold beings in a naturally soothing environment. You will leave this workshop with a basic knowledge of how to formulate a plaster recipe, test, apply, and maintain plaster at your desired build sites! We will also discuss plasters’ creative and beautifying properties and explore techniques for different shades, textures and more!
If you have ever wanted to participate in an ancient practice of community building, are interested in plastering an existing building, are designing a naturally built gathering space, or love to get your hands in the soil and learn a new skill, this workshop is for you. No prior experience necessary.
We can’t wait to get muddy with you!
