As we move deeper into economic crisis, now is the time for white people to recommit to organizing our own into solidarity, not blame. We know those at the top are spending billions to divide us. Whether it’s blaming immigrants for the housing crisis or poor Southerners for Trump, when working people blame one another, billionaires are high fiving in the background.
Solidarity–showing up for and with each other because we know our lives depend on it– is how we fight division. And we know white people are a primary target for these divide and conquer tactics, and so a necessary group to organize. Join SURJ with leaders from the Chicago Teachers for a conversation, “Solidarity, Not Scapegoats: strategies for organizing the white working class.”
On this call, we’ll hear about strategies for organizing against division and towards solidarity as we prepare to celebrate May Day– the quintessential solidarity holiday!– in a national day of action with unions and other social movements across the country.
