The Grid of Tomorrow: CETA’s Vision for Colorado

When: March 20, 6:30pm
Where: Virtual

The Colorado Electric Transmission Authority (CETA) engages in transmission planning activities that would increase grid reliability, help Colorado meet its clean energy goals, and aid in economic development. CETA has the authority to issue and sell revenue bonds to finance and develop transmission facilities located partly or entirely within Colorado. CETA is an independent public body and political subdivision of the state that performs an essential public function.

CETA’s 2024 Transmission Study identified a significant long-term need for transmission in the state. The study’s reference case calls for $4.5 billion of grid investment by 2045. Under a high-demand scenario, assuming a sharp increase in electricity demand in the state due to drivers like electrification and data center growth, an additional $4.2 billion in grid investment is needed by 2045. A one-page fact sheet describing the key findings is available at: https://www.cotransmissionauthority.com/s/3-CETA_2024-Transmission-Capacity-Expansion-Study-Fact-Sheet_FINAL.pdf
