From Rocks to Dirt: A Soil’s Odyssey
Join us for a fun evening led by our very own Natural Resource Technician, Joko McTeer! This evening will be about gaining more knowledge regarding the origin of rocks and soils and how to better understand them. We will have a hands-on soil testing portion towards the end of this event where you will learn multiple ways to test soil so that you can harness the power of soil in restoration and gardening projects!
NSF NCAR Explorer Series Lecture “When the lobsters march north: From expensive models to collaborative solutions to save America’s coral reef”
NSF NCAR Explorer Series Lecture “When the lobsters march north: From expensive models to collaborative solutions to save America’s coral reef”
What is the future we want for America's largest coral reefs? These delicate ecosystems support marine life and human endeavors, but climate change is threatening the existence of these natural, and human communities, alike. There are several climate models addressing marine life impacts, however the cost to run models is a barrier to the communities who need them most. Together with the model metrics and insight from community members, this research will provide adaptation techniques that are meaningful to the local community.
Fun on the Farm: Pollinators
Fun on the Farm: Pollinators
Children ages 3-6 will love to visit the farm to learn about animals, plants, and agricultural life. Pollinators introduces kids to the pollinators all around us and then they get to create their own butterfly! All programs include a short story time, hands-on activities, and a take-home craft. Afterwards, explore the farm. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
