Nuclear Nexus & Nuclear Guardianship Collective

In coordination with AFSC Denver, Greenpeace, and numerous other organizations, RMPJC worked to end the production of potentially harmful nuclear waste. Over time, RMPJC became the foremost peace and environmental group working steadily for the best possible procedures to properly clean up the already thoroughly contaminated site. However, due to an improper “clean up” by government agencies, the efforts to clean up Rocky flats and make it habitable once again is still underway.

“Mindful Birding” at Goshawk Ridge
“Mindful Birding” at Goshawk Ridge
This outing's theme is "mindful birding" where we will spend quiet time at each of several stopping points to focus deeply on any birds that we are able to see and hear. The emphasis will not be on finding and identifying as many species as possible, but rather on thoroughly appreciating the ones we happen across. We'll consider how mindful techniques might help us improve as "conventional" birders too. This area boasts exceptional scenery and a variety of high-quality habitats. Restrooms are available near the meeting point, but not at the trailhead or along the trail. Plan on walking about two miles on gravel road.

Longmont Farmers Market
Longmont Farmers Market
Long before Longmont was know as a bustling tech center, it was sustained by thousands of acres of farmland — starting with the establishment of a flour mill in 1887, and later with the vegetable cannery built in 1889. These days, Longmont farms provide much more than just sugar beets, and preserved farm land in Longmont and beyond helps fill our market with fresh, seasonal vegetables, dairy products, and Colorado-raised meats. We’re proud to be a growers-only market, meaning every product at the Longmont Farmers Market is created locally and sold by the vendors who produce it.

CU Yard Sale
Resource Central and the Environmental Center at the University of Colorado Boulder are teaming up to divert thousands of pounds of material from landfills this year during the CU student move out. Since 2019, an estimated 65,000 lbs of dorm materials have been diverted from landfills through this program. This year, the range of accepted items has been broadened, which will likely result in an increase in the amount of pounds collected. We will bring these items back to our Materials Reuse Facility, where they will be available for the public to shop at a sharply discounted rate.
