¿Sabes que tienes derecho a un medio ambiente sano? En el 2022, las Naciones Unidas reconocieron que el derecho a un medio ambiente limpio, saludable y sostenible –que incluye el derecho a un clima seguro– es un derecho humano. Por lo tanto, la crisis climática es una crisis de derechos humanos. En esta conferencia, exploraremos el significado y lo que implica el derecho humano a un medio ambiente saludable, particularmente a un clima seguro. Veremos que, el reconocimiento mundial del derecho a un medio ambiente sano, junto con la evidencia científica sobre el cambio climático y sus impactos, significa que se pueden exigir responsabilidades a los gobiernos y las empresas por decisiones y acciones que contribuyen al cambio climático.

Our Human Right to a Healthy Environment – A Science Under the Dome Talk

Do you know that you have the right to a healthy environment? In 2022, the United Nations recognized that the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment - which includes the right to a safe climate - is a human right. Therefore, the climate crisis is a human rights crisis. In this talk, we will explore the meaning and implications of the human right to a healthy environment, particularly to a safe climate. We will see that, the worldwide recognition of the right to a healthy environment, together with the scientific evidence of climate change and its impacts, means that governments and corporations can be held accountable for decisions and actions that contribute to climate change.
