Engage in October for Climate Justice
So many wonderful efforts and events are happening in this community. Thank you for being part of it!
For a full sense of what is offered, please check out the Boulder County Climate Justice Event Calendar.
Highlights:
Film Screening
In an effort to build locally on the momentum and power of September’s recent 700 #EndFossilFuels actions in 65 countries, on all seven continents, with at least 600,000 people participating, GreenFaith Boulder County and Naropa University’s Joanna Macy Center for Resilience and Regeneration are organizing a showing of Fracking the System at 6:30pm on Thurs 10/19.
Environmental Justice Town Hall
Hosted by the Environmental Justice and Religious Affairs Committees of the NAACP Boulder Branch, the goal of the town hall on Sunday 10/29 from 3-5pm is to create alignment across environmental justice efforts in Boulder County. To quote Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “Those who love peace must learn to organize as effectively as those who love war.”
CJC Stakeholder Report
The Climate Justice Collaborative of Boulder County (CJC) strengthens and supports an existing movement in Boulder County to build and organize for climate justice. Check out their most recent stakeholder report here.
Public Input for Weed Management Plan
Boulder County’s Parks and Open Space is updating its Weed Management Plan and herbicide use policy for the first time since 2004 and the public can provide input through a survey available now until October 18. More information can be found here, including alternatives to what the county is doing to restore and preserve ecosystem health.
