Connecting through the Darkness

Happy Solstice from the BoCo Climate Justice Hive!

In this time of darkness, we see you!

Learning from or finding positive takeaways is not always possible.

But connecting with our community is always helpful. Collectively, we shine brighter.

The work you all are doing is powerful.

We see you, Climate Justice Collaborative!

  • Kudos for your November Navigating Toward Climate Justice collaborative grant writing workshop with support from Growing Gardens, Philanthropiece, GreenLatinos, and the Monarca Group.
  • May collective power grow around your efforts for a Grassroots Alliance to include many powerful local frontline community-led groups!
  • Thank you for partnering with Boulder County Public Health and Boulder County Office of Sustainability, Climate Action, and Resilience to engage frontline communities around the Valmont power plant cleanup. This issue is starting to get attention, and your work is essential to ensure equitable and healthy solutions.

We see you, Food Security Network!

  • Kudos for your efforts coordinating over a dozen organizations, including Growing Gardens, Boulder Food Rescue, Harvest of All First Nations, Brújula Comunitaria, many food pantries, and more!
  • Thank you for the Boulder & Broomfield Counties Food Resource Calendar!
  • Thank you for the Holiday Food Resource Guide to better serve ALL our neighbors this Holiday Season! If your organization is offering a special holiday event, add it here.

We see you, Food Rescue Alliance!

  • Thank you, Boulder Food Rescue, for starting the Food Rescue Alliance, which creates a more just and less wasteful food system locally and nationally.  FRA has grown to 31 organizations serving a total of 250,000 individuals across the nation.
  • Boulder Food Rescue, we love your decentralized approach, allowing you to be adaptive enough to work with 12 local agencies all working towards a less wasteful food system!

We see you, GreenFaith Boulder County!

  • Thank you for working to organize over 45 faith congregations for climate justice!
  • Thank you for speaking at the NAACP’s November Environmental Justice Town Hall along with the Climate Justice Collaborative!

We see you, Cool Boulder!

  • Thank you for forming partnerships between the City of Boulder departments, communities and dozens of local organizations to address the climate crisis and biodiversity loss through nature-based climate action.
  • We look forward to many more great events this next year! And thank you for offering so many Cool ways to get involved here.

We see you, Classrooms for Climate Action!

  • Thank you for partnering with many organizations and showing up at others’ events!
  • Thank you for supporting teachers and students in taking local climate action with the mission of building HOPE and AGENCY in young people as they contribute to and take part in local climate action!
  • Best wishes in finding a board member with experience in grant writing (possibly also someone retired with capacity and time) to write grants and assist with fundraising. Maybe that’s someone reading this?

On this longest, darkest night of the year, please join us in recognizing the work of these awesome collaborations as well as your own efforts. We are in this together. And collectively we shine brighter.
