Building Connections, Driving Change
— April 7, 2025 —
Dear friends, neighbors, and allies,
As we shake off the last frost of winter and step into longer days, we’re feeling the shift—not just in the seasons, but in our organizing landscape. Spring brings more than sunshine. It brings movement. And it comes at a time when our collective clarity and collaboration are deeply needed.
We’re living through a moment that feels both tender and tenuous. In just the last few weeks, the Boulder NAACP chapter closed its doors. CU Boulder’s INVST program—a training ground for student activists—was quietly canceled. These losses are more than symbolic. They point to something larger: institutions that once held the line for justice are disappearing, worn down by underfunding, overwork, and shifting political winds.
And it’s not just happening here. Across the globe—from the United States to Israel/Palestine, Poland, Hungary, India, and beyond—we’re witnessing the rise and entrenchment of autocratic regimes. Civic space is shrinking. Freedoms of expression and movement are under assault. Grassroots movements are being criminalized, and entire communities are being surveilled, displaced, and silenced. This is a global pattern of control and suppression—and it demands a global response rooted in care, strategy, and solidarity.
At the same time, it’s clear that many of the systems we operate in were never built to support true collaboration. We’re told to work together—but forced to compete for funding, recognition, and space. The result is burnout, fragmentation, and a sense of futility that can be hard to shake.
And yet, there is another way.
Introducing the Climate Justice Hive
We’re proud to share that the Climate Justice Hive is now a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This decision wasn’t made lightly. As legacy fiscal sponsors phase out and a new generation of grassroots leaders rises, we stepped in to create an infrastructure rooted in care, justice, and collective purpose.
We now offer fiscal sponsorship to grassroots, frontline, community-led projects that align with climate and social justice values. This isn’t just about providing a legal home—it’s about building an ecosystem of support. Don’t Organize Alone. We’re here to make sure you don’t have to.
We’re excited to share an opportunity to deepen this work together:
Reconnecting for a Just and Regenerative Future
Join us April 11–13 at Naropa University’s Nalanda Campus for a transformative three-day conference—part of Naropa’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. This event, both in-person and virtual, will focus on social-ecological justice through a collective liberation framework, addressing our current polycrisis and envisioning pathways toward a just, resilient, and regenerative future. This gathering aligns deeply with our mission at the Climate Justice Hive. We encourage all community members to participate, engage in meaningful dialogue, and build connections that will strengthen our collective efforts.
Let’s Build the Future We Deserve
Spring is here—and it’s time to get moving. Whether you’re organizing in a specific issue area, navigating systems from within, or simply want to learn how to plug in, we invite you to connect with us.
At the Hive, we’re in this for the long haul. Our work is grounded in deep relationships, strategy, and a fierce belief that we can build the conditions for collective liberation.
In the face of growing authoritarianism, we hold onto each other. In a world that seeks to isolate and divide, we choose collaboration, we choose community.
Let’s not compete. Let’s coordinate.
Let’s not survive. Let’s thrive.
Don’t Organize Alone.
In solidarity and action,
The Climate Justice Hive Team
