Celebrating fall colors, harvest, diversity, equity and our collective power
Happy fall!
This week, as we celebrate beautiful colors and golden splendor against bluebird skies, nourishing harvests from local farms, and an abundance of neighborhood apples, we also want to praise recent collaborative efforts of many of our local partners addressing climate justice in Boulder Country around Food & Farming, Climate Equity & Justice, and Faith-Based Organizing.
People are still raving about the first annual Harvest of All First Nations Corn Festival at the Yellow Barn Farm a few weeks ago. The reparations and decolonization work was impressive.
As their Instagram post says, “The opening blessing in the garden and the Aztec Dance were so powerful. The land vibrated with each beat of the drums, and we can still hear the echoes of it in passing days.”
Collaboration runs deep at Yellow Barn Farm, supporting the work of other organizations regularly and hosting many workshops and events. Please consider joining them this weekend for Farm Hop & Farm Fest – Sat, Oct 29 – a bus tour of Elk Run Farm and Yellow Barn Farm ending with the Flatiron Farmers Coalition Hoe Down, local artisan market and live music. The Climate Justice Collaborative of Boulder County (CJC) strengthens and supports an existing movement in Boulder County to build and organize for climate justice, led by the communities most impacted by climate chaos. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out this great writeup by Philanthropiece on the CJC’s Collaborative Approach to Equitable Climate Action.

Tired of waiting for action, Boulder County spiritual leaders and faith communities joined diverse faith communities in a globally coordinated action over the weekend under the banner of Faiths 4 Climate Justice. Over 30 people led the multi-faith moving vigil, which was organized by the GreenFaith Boulder County Circle. Participants distributed over 300 Vote + Act for Climate Justice flyers during the vigil with information about the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, Environmental Voter Project, 350 Colorado, and key climate-related issues on the ballot this November, including Proposition FF which would create a state-wide, Healthy School Meals for All program, amplifying voice of Latinx/e parents who have been asking St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) for more than two years to have more fresh and healthy foods prepared with local ingredients. They also shared information about calling on financial institutions to divest from fossil fuels and invest in local communities and renewable energy technology.
Also last week Safe and Healthy Colorado with support from 350 Colorado launched a video and campaign explaining how oil and gas fracking is fueling the flames for more intense wildfires in Colorado. Watch and Sign their letter
We are so grateful for these efforts and so many more. Please let us know what you are up to and reach out to us and the other organizations on Boulder.Earth for more collaboration.
And of course, keep watching our community calendar for upcoming events, including:
Nov. 1 Nuclear Guardianship Collective meeting with Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center
Nov. 2-4 The Regenerate Conference
Nov. 9 Annual Colorado Pollinator Summit
Dec. 1-4 U.N. Right Here Right Now Global Climate Summit
United Nations Human Rights, CU Boulder and the Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Alliance are co-hosting a three day global climate summit addressing human rights and climate change. This is a free virtual event with great climate justice speakers and topics.
Enjoy. Celebrate. Gather.
Love
