This workshop will introduce ‘Wilding’ as a system-based approach to novel apiculture and conservation practices. Through hands-on activities as well as observation and discussion, we will explore the parameters of the natural nesting habit of honeybees, the role of biomimicry in nest design, and the relevance of non-human birthrights.
Are you interested in learning about the abundant insect life that surrounds you, and what it can show us about ecosystem health? Our insect biodiversity research is hands-on, accessible, and grounded in basic bug knowledge (no need to be an entomologist!)
All, including beginning birders, are invited to experience the fun and discovery of bird watching at the Greenlee Wildlife Preserve on the first Sunday of each month year-round. Knowledgeable bird watchers will be on hand with binoculars, spotting scopes, and learning tools to assist in the fun activity of identifying birds in their natural habitats.
Ben will discuss the history and biology of this world-changing species; how beavers can help us fight drought, flooding, wildfire, and climate change; and how we can coexist with this challenging but vital rodent (the beaver!).
Using games and activities, we will learn how to use our senses to find the stories of the plants and animals living at Mud Lake Open Space. Find animal signs, identify the many trees, and explore the amazing diversity of plants and animals. How many will you find? This program is geared toward children ages 6-8, but all are welcome.
The Mountain States Bumble Bee Atlas is a collaborative effort to track and conserve the bumble bees of Colorado, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming. This in-person workshop will give you the knowledge, skills, confidence, and enthusiasm to become a bumble bee atlas volunteer!

In this webinar, our expert speaker will unpack the results of a city-wide study in Denver where she discovered which city parks best support pollinators, and how neighborhood income may be playing a role. Representatives from Denver Parks & Rec will also be joining us to discuss how this study will impact the future of Denver parks.

We’ll cover plant identification and learn how to document the phenological stages (bud burst, flowering, fruiting, etc.) of wildflowers, sedges, shrubs and even conifer trees!
