The Mountain States Bumble Bee Atlas is a collaborative effort to track and conserve the bumble bees of Colorado, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming. This in-person workshop will give you the knowledge, skills, confidence, and enthusiasm to become a bumble bee atlas volunteer!

Pollinators are declining broadly, but city parks may hold the key to their success in urban settings. In this webinar, our expert speaker will unpack the results of a city-wide study in Denver where she discovered which city parks best support pollinators, and how neighborhood income may be playing a role. Representatives from Denver Parks & Rec will also be joining us to discuss how this study will impact the future of Denver parks.
What is a Fen? What is Phenology? Come learn about wetlands, rare species, and citizen science with botanist and ecologist Gwen Kittel. We’ll cover plant identification and learn how to document the phenological stages (bud burst, flowering, fruiting, etc.) of wildflowers, sedges, shrubs and even conifer trees!
Cooking dinner from scratch is always a treat, but did you know that home cooked meals can also be good medicine? Our ancestors did. Come learn about the magic of cooking, and the medicinal usage of the common foods and herbs that we have growing in the Harvest of all First Nations Garden.
Get up close and personal with some of our friendliest pollinators. Help contribute to the Xerces Society Bumble Bee Atlas by searching for bees along Coal Creek. We’ll net them and chill them on ice briefly to take detailed photos, then release them unharmed. Our data will help guide bumble bee conservation efforts throughout the West.
All, including beginning birders, are invited to experience the fun and discovery of bird watching at the Greenlee Wildlife Preserve on the first Sunday of each month year-round. Knowledgeable bird watchers will be on hand with binoculars, spotting scopes, and learning tools to assist in the fun activity of identifying birds in their natural habitats.
This outdoor nighttime celebration welcomes curious folks (ages 8 and up) to gather, appreciate, and observe moths in a biodiverse setting. From 8-10 PM, UV lights and simple moth-ing stations will be set up for visitors to view.
People & Pollinators Action Network's 8th Annual Bumble Bee Bash is a community celebration drives their organization's mission to protect pollinators forward—and is a whole lot of fun, too!
Join us for a Fall morning of planting a pollinator-friendly garden at the intersection of 2nd and Terry -- just behind Bootstrap Brewing! This parcel of land is currently non-functional grass turf. With the help of a grant from our friends at Resource Central, we will be removing that turf, replacing current irrigation with a lower water use option, putting down rock mulch, and (with your help!) getting hundreds of pollinator friendly plants in the ground!
