We'll be joined by Geoff Ferrell of Sonnen to discuss how Virtual Power Plants of distributed consumer owned batteries can enhance the value of solar PV and provide value to all shareholders in the grid. He'll highlight solar plus storage VPP projects, including the Soleil Lofts multi-family housing development in Utah. Soleil Lofts is a 600 unit all-electric apartment community with 5 MW solar, 12.6 MWh energy storage, and 150+ electric vehicle chargers. The project was developed by Sonnen in partnership with Rocky Mountain Power, Soleil Power, and the property developer, Wasatch Group.
Join us for your first exploration of willow basket weaving! This class covers the foundations of European-style willow weaving. You'll learn to weave a small, round basket using the simplest weaving techniques. You'll learn to create a sturdy base, add sides to the basket, and finish your basket with a strong border. At the end of the class, you'll have all the skills to weave your own baskets and begin to explore more advanced willow weaving techniques.

The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) will hold a hybrid Public Hearing on Docket Z-23-0001: Zoning Map Amendments to the Floodplain Overlay District on Tuesday, March 26 starting at 1 p.m.
The Colorado Hazard Mapping Program (CHAMP) has produced new regulatory floodplain maps for the waterways in unincorporated Boulder County most affected by the 2013 Flood. The county's Floodplain Overlay District is comprised of both the FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and the Boulder County Floodplain and Floodway. In 2017, 2018, and 2020, the county incorporated draft and preliminary CHAMP data into the Boulder County Floodplain and Floodway. Now, the CHAMP study will be incorporated into the FEMA FIRM as of autumn 2024.

The “Listen Backs” series invites public engagement with the oral histories of Colorado’s Black community. Attendees will dive deep and engage in thought-provoking dialogue around the Black experience in this predominantly White state. A community-based project called Proclaiming Colorado’s Black History will be more than two and a half years underway at the time Listen Backs begin and its namesake exhibit will be open for its two-year run. As part of this initiative, the predominantly Black team has been recording and digitizing over 25 original oral histories of Black Coloradoans conducted by the NAACP Boulder County’s Historian, Minister Glenda Strong Robinson. The Creative Director of Programs at the Museum of Boulder, Nyasha James-Davis, would like to bring these oral histories to life for the public with live events in which an audience listens to an oral history and then engages in a facilitated dialogue with prominent Black Coloradoans after its completion.

There is widespread understanding that moisture levels in the soil are a critical factor in plant growth and health, whether in cultivated or natural systems. This presentation will provide an introduction to current systems for soil moisture monitoring and detail some of the benefits this monitoring can provide. The presentation will also describe a new multi-agency effort to develop a state-wide soil moisture monitoring network in Colorado.
